Demonio and Apex Breaks is the two original releases under the Skratcher Records label. Both produced and created by Wundrkut, with the creative art direction supported by myself. The idea was to produce a simple go to record to pack along with you for the outdoor session, packing light for your treck. Demonio was named that way due to the tempted guilty pleasure samples that we all love to cut with. Another tidbit regarding Demonio is that I had Wundrkut layer demonic voices under the scratch samples. Listen closely… those who are chosen will hear the message š
With the release of our second 7″ scratch record, we decided to approach it differently and progress towards music composition. The next step to turntable evolution. The sound direction for Apex was to reply to the darker tone of Demonio, giving it the Gospel / Wave tablist feel. Originally I had designed a different record cover, but later changed it to match the overall branding for the trilogy.
Once after finalizing with the team, I continued on planning the stages and tools for the promotional campaign… including this short animation.
